APPEARANCE:

Hijikata is a man of roughly 30, with dark brown eyes and extremely long, black hair. He's very tall for his time period (mid-19th century) and ethnicity (Japanese), which puts him on the tallish side of average to modern, Western people. He's lean in the sense of not carrying much that's unnecessary on his frame, but broad-shouldered and well-muscled in the way that comes from physical labor and martial training. He has sharp, handsome facial features, though the severity of them and his taciturn, no-nonsense nature can at times make him appear older than he is.

His changes began on October 31st, when he grew lizard-like claws in place of his fingernails and toenails, in addition to gaining markedly talon-like feet. Shortly thereafter, he began to grow smooth, hard, dark red scales, which now cover his shoulders, his feet, an the backs of his arms, and trail off more sparsely along his hands lower back, hips, and upper chest.

Wings have grown out of his back; they are large enough to easily less support his own weight in flight (and someone else's, with effort). They have a bony, muscular frame covered in the same scales as his upper body and connected by a black, faintly translucent membrane.

In December of his first winter in Ryslig, he gained yellow eyes with night vision (and generally enhanced vision). At the same time, fangs replaced some of his teeth.

His final round of transformations consisted of growing a thick, muscular tail and a pair of antler-like horns similar to those seen on many depictions of East Asian dragons.

Since coming to Ryslig, he has taken to wearing Western clothes to blend in. His tastes run fashionable and masculine; generally, he can be found wearing a white, button-down shirt with a button or two undone, black pants, and a simple-looking, high-quality waistcoat. His hair is always worn in a long ponytail.

RUNES:

Hijikata received three runes marked on his body by the mysterious mountain deity:

-The kanji read as "makoto" (誠 ; truth, fidelity, sincerity, devotion), written on the skin over the position of his heart, in what appears to be black calligraphy ink
-Isami Kondou's family crest (a circle filled with three horizontal bars of equal width to the spaces between them) raised in gold on the back of his right hand
-The crest of the Tokugawa family (a circle filled with three stylized, inward-pointing, heart-shaped leaves) raised in gold on the back of his left hand



POWERS:

On November 16th of his first year in Ryslig, he discovered his ability to use fire magic, rather accidentally. He's been training consistently with it since then, and can use it for attacks, firebreathing, and acting as a convenient space heater for his snakeified boyfriend.

As of the first year's February Event, Hijikata can exert control over humans with eye contact and spoken commands.

PSYCHOLOGICAL CHANGES:

Starting midway through the first month of his changes, he began to feel hunger for humans. He's also got a hoarding instinct towards high-quality goods (and people he considers important), and is in general more possessive than usual towards things he considers of value. His pride has also been increased.

Because of weird mountain stuff, Hijikata was temporarily a Demon. His non-human features were as follows:

-Sharp fangs
-Red eyes (glow when using magic)
-Pointy ears
-Dark claws on hands and feet
-2 horns, oni-like, black
-His wings were kinda bat-like to begin with but like I guess they're slightly more bat-like now?
-Long tail, with spikes on
-Dark magic - binding humans to a spot, fire, possession, soul-stealing
-Immunity to fire
-Weakness to salt, holy magic
-Short distance teleportation with fire circles
-Forked tongue
-Dark purple lips
-Hunger for souls (humans until Nov 1, monsters subsequently)

Hijikata is now no longer a demon!
